Building Digitalisation Strategy

Define a clear vision to evolve your buildings into smarter, higher-performing and more connected environments.

ExaBuilding supports building owners, operators and organisations in defining a digitalisation strategy tailored to their business, operational, energy, environmental and regulatory challenges.

The objective is to turn a digitalisation ambition into a concrete pathway: defining priorities, identifying high-value use cases, guiding technology choices and structuring the investments needed to develop the building or property portfolio.

What the strategy covers

Each assignment is tailored to the context, existing property portfolio and the client's transformation objectives.

Diagnosis of the current situation

Analysis of the existing digitalisation level, the systems in place, their constraints and their capacity to evolve.

Business and operational needs

Identification of the needs of the various stakeholders to align digital transformation with the building's actual uses and the needs of its teams.

Objectives and priority use cases

Definition of digitalisation objectives and identification of priority use cases based on their operational, energy and strategic value.

Systems and target architecture

Identification of the systems to connect, modernise or evolve, followed by the definition of a functional and technical architecture consistent with the project's objectives. Where applicable, the strategy also takes into account regulatory requirements and developments relating to building automation and control systems.

Technologies & interoperability

Guidance on technology choices and analysis of interoperability between the systems and protocols involved: KNX, Building Management Systems (BMS), BACnet, Modbus, DALI, IoT and other relevant technologies depending on the project. Where the project's regulatory context requires it, we also factor in Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) issues to guide technical choices and investments consistently.

Investment prioritisation

Identification and prioritisation of the necessary investments, taking into account expected benefits, technical constraints, the existing property portfolio and transformation objectives.

Modernisation or new investments

Analysis of opportunities to modernise existing systems and trade-offs between retaining, upgrading, replacing or deploying new solutions.

Transformation pathway

Definition of a structured roadmap, with priorities, deployment phases and timeframes suited to the project.

What you receive

A clear strategy to guide your decisions

At the end of the assignment, depending on the scope defined, you receive:

  • A digitalisation strategy document
  • A target vision for the building or property portfolio
  • An identification of priority use cases
  • A target functional and/or technical architecture
  • Technology recommendations
  • An investment prioritisation plan
  • An indicative budget framework, where this is part of the scope of the assignment
  • A transformation roadmap, with phases and deployment timeframes suited to the project
  • A presentation of the strategy and recommendations to the relevant decision-makers and teams

How does the assignment work?

  1. Scoping

An initial phase is used to understand the context, the issues, the transformation objectives and the expectations of the various stakeholders.

  2. Workshops & discussions

Discussions with business, technical and operational teams help identify needs, uses, constraints and digitalisation opportunities.

  3. Analysis & scenarios

We analyse the existing situation and the various options for change to identify the most relevant scenarios from a technical, operational and economic perspective.

  4. Building the strategy

We define the target vision, priority use cases, technology directions and key investment priorities to structure a coherent transformation pathway.

  5. Presentation

The strategy, chosen scenarios and recommendations are formalised in the deliverables defined for the assignment and presented to the relevant stakeholders.

A strategy tailored to your property portfolio

The digitalisation strategy can cover a single building, a group of buildings or an entire property portfolio.

Its scope and depth are tailored to the complexity of existing installations, the organisation's objectives and the defined transformation ambition.

This assignment can be carried out in person or remotely, depending on the context of the project.

Give your transformation a clear direction

Let's discuss your challenges and define together the digitalisation strategy best suited to your building or property portfolio.
